FRW helped hundreds of students at Sir Samuel Steele Public School to create:
Teacher Jan Wristen, Principal Fred Peach, parent Louise Boccia and other School Council parents helped students to complete and maintain this wildflower garden.
A thinner and coarser sand layer was used for this garden in comparison with other FRW gardens. This thin coarse sand was excellent for the growth of native wild roses but it allowed greater weed invasion and required more maintenance.
Funding was provided by the Toronto Atmospheric Fund's Cool School Program ($2,500) and TD Canada Friends of the Environment Foundation ($5,000).
