West Rouge Public School planted a wildflower and butterfly garden in 2003 with help from FRW.
Every student (400+) in the school planted at least one wildflower in the garden.
The garden consists of approximately 500 native wildflowers, grasses, shrubs and vines.
Posts were placed around the garden to provide support for vines such as native clematis.
Bird boxes were placed beside the garden to attract birds and encourage natural garden pest control.
For their successful community conservation efforts, West Rouge Public School received an Education Award from the Rouge Park in 2003.
