Every day, volunteers are needed to help collect the quickly dropping wild flower and native tree seed. If you have a week day off in your schedule or want to participate in a evening or weekend seed collection session we are working on this almost everyday now. Please join in and meet some of the other volunteers. You, your family and your friends can join in by telephoning Colin at 416-208-0252, or emailing at colin@frw.ca.

December — Wreath Making and Winter Hike: Celebrate the season with FRW as we create wreaths and look back on a productive year’s work.

Late January — Winter Wildlife Hike: Join us as we follow wildlife tracks and learn which animals are awake in the park.

Restoration Planting, and Hike.
This year on April 19, FRW, Councillor Raymond Cho, 120 multicultural volunteers and approximately 15 Suncor employees and their families helped to plant 400 cedar, 500 pine, 100 birch and 75 serviceberry  at Woodlands campground in Rouge Park. FRW would like to thank everyone who contributed to this successful planting.

Restoration Planting, with Hike to Follow.
Community planting (held on May 25 in 2008) – This is an ideal opportunity for families of any size, faith groups, and other community organizations to get involved in our restoration efforts.

Frog Walk.
FRW staff lead a hike into the Beare Wetland in search for mating frogs. Scheduling is somewhat dependent upon the weather, but the event takes place between mid-May and mid-June.

Frog and Turtle Monitoring Hike:
The last Frog and Turtle Monitoring Hike took place in July, 2008, in the Beare Wetland.

Annual Butterfly Monitoring Hike:
The last Annual Butterfly Monitoring Hike took place at the Lucas Restoration site in northeast Scarborough near the Toronto Zoo in mid-July, 2008. Watch for it next year.

September — FRW Public Tour: Visit this year’s restoration sites with the people who have designed and built them. The presentation and tour will demonstrate the process of restoring wildlife habitat.

Late October — Autumn Colours Hike in Rouge Park: This family and dog friendly hike in the park will be timed in order to enjoy the splendor of fall colours.
